Erina di Britannia (エリ・ディ・ブリタニア, Erina di Buritania?) is a major characters feature in Code Geass: Marik and Lelouch of Dissension.

She was a consort of the Second Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire, Vector zi Britannia and is Marik, Leonardo and Liana di Britannia's late mother. She was also a member of the Tenjo Family.

Erina looked very similar to her Daughter Liana, wearing her Dark Blue hair with two pieces hanging down from the sides.

Erina is a calm and graceful individual. She loves her children and does what she can to help provide for them. She is an extremely kind and loving mother who cares very much for her three children and tried desperately to protect them, taking them away and fleeing from the Britannia Imperial Family after learning about Charles and Vector's plans.

She was a kind person, as she once told her daughter not to hurt anyone. Another sign of her love for her children was when she risked her life to get food for Liana, which led to her own death.

Erina had a rather complex mindset, which made it difficult for most people to understand her. She considered life to be very precious and believed that something shouldn't be easily thrown away. She believed that people should live their lives as much as they can and that people cannot atone for their sins by dying, believing that they should repent for their actions.

Many of her three children had inherited many positive traits from her. Marik inherited her mother's unflinching willpower, facing the possibility of death without fear, and her kind and gentle nature, which he often only shows with Liana. Leon shares his mother's courage and determination. Liana shares her mother's empathy, kindness, and generosity.

Character Planning History[]

Character Outline[]

Before becoming a consort of the Britannian Imperial Family, she was known as Erina Tenjo, the daughter of the Tenjo Family, which had strong political influence in Japan. From an early age, she was close friends with Goro Domoto, who eventually served her as a servant in the Tenjo Family. Though she would tease him when they were younger, they became a happy couple as they grew up.

Sometime later, she studied abroad in Britannia, where she met Prince Vector zi Britannia, the second prince of the Britannian Imperial Family. She was forced to become his consort and eventually gave birth to Marik Leon and Liana di Britannia. However, her status as a Japanese, and not a Britannian by birth, caused her to earn the jealousy of other imperial wives and nobles. Marik suspected this was one of the reasons that resulted in her murder. However, his further investigation revealed that several members of the Imperial House, not related to her by blood, respected and admired Erina, despite her not being a Britannian. These members include Ivan Clovis, Lelouch Nunnally, Marrybell Julia Euphemia, and especially Cornelia, who idolized her and put a lot of fruitless effort into investigating her death. Eventually, they learned that Vector was responsible for her death, claiming that Erina was a traitor for abandoning the Imperial Family. Even some Britannians outside the Imperial Family, such as Jeremiah Gottwald, respected and admired Erina despite her non-Britannia heritage. It is hinted that her main supporters were the Ashford Foundation and the Serlut Family, which explains why their social statuses were ruined after she abandoned the Imperial Family, and why they consented to protect Marik and Liana.

After spending a year on the run, traveling from country to country, she later returned to Japan and stayed with the Kururugi Family until Britannia launched an invasion against Japan.
