The Kirkwall is an eighth generation assault Knightmare Frame used by Britannian forces in Code Geass Megiddo.

Appearance[]

A production unit based on the Hector (the original series' Mordred). Its overall design is that of its basis, but it holds the faceplate and forehead mono-eye camera of the Vincent Ward, and is equipped with "only" two hadron cannons instead of four and half as many missile launchers. It is colored in the the standard Britannian blue of the Ward, while Tink's unit is tinted in the Ceridwren colors of red and gold.

Design[]

As a mass production unit based on the Hector, the Kirkwall is designed meant for heavy assault and fire support operations. For this it doesn't stray far from its parent design, featuring heavy armor and firepower atypical of eighth generation Knightmares. Its primary weapons are a pair of shoulder mounted hadron cannons that can fold up and combine together to form a stark hadron cannon, in turn supplemented by sixty missile launchers placed throughout the frame and two slash harkens. As per this numbering however, the Kirkwall retains only half its basis' overall fighting strength. Beside these, the Kirkwall also mounts torso mounted factsphere sensors for superior scanning and data accumulation capability. All in all, it is essentially to the Hector what the Exeter is to the Mordred and Lancelot.

History[]

Following the successful deployment of the Exeter, Imperial Army commanders became interested in mass producing other Knights of the Round Knightmare types, with many proposals being made virtually overnight, up to and including a design based on the Bedivere with scaled down Excalibur sword. Through these myriad of proposals, Britannic would answer with a production type based on Knight of Six Anya Alstreim's Hector. Dubbed the Kirkwall, this unit was little different from its parent, though its overall design was simplified and capabilities scaled down somewhat for ease of production, typical of eighth generation Knightmares. Though somewhat more difficult to pilot as well as too specialized for general combat, the Kirkwall would find a home with Britannian devicers who preferred heavier firepower and durability, making it an effective assault unit.

Among the first devicers to gain the Kirkwall is Captain Sir Tink Lockhart of the Ceridwren Knights, who would field his unit alongside Captain Dame Sokkia Sherpa's Exeter and Captain Sir Leonhardt Steiner's Preston as the Ceridwren Knights' second-highest fighters, naturally under their leader Major Dame Oldrin Zevon and her Urien. Tink would utilize his Kirkwall through much of the Britannian advance through Far Eastern Eurasia (Siberia) toward the Urals...
