The Preston is an eighth generation high mobility Knightmare Frame used by Britannian forces in Code Geass Megiddo.

Appearance[]

As a production unit based on the Elyan, the Preston is a combination of the original Vincent and the Vincent Ward. Its overall design is that of the original Vincent, but it holds the faceplate and forehead mono-eye camera of the Ward (the latter mounted upon a finned crest like the standard Vincent). It is colored in the the standard Britannian blue of the Ward, while Leonhardt's unit is tinted in the Ceridwren colors of red and gold.

Design[]

As a mass production unit based on the Elyan, the Preston is designed primarily for high speed and mobility. As a result, it is one of the fastest eighth generation units conceived, such that its speed and maneuverability are on par with seventh generation units (including its original parent). Following this, its armaments are also the same, possessing spear-type MVS (which can also combine together into a lance form), forearm mounted needle blazers and hip-mounted harkens. That being said however, the needle blazers have approximately half the overall power of the Elyan's weapons, and so have some difficulty piercing through heavier armor. Beside these, the Preston also mounts shoulder landspinners for even greater mobility and twin factsphere sensors for superior scanning and data accumulation capability. All in all, it is essentially to the Elyan what the Exeter is to the Mordred and Lancelot.

History[]

Following the successful deployment of the Exeter, Imperial Army commanders became interested in mass producing other Knights of the Round Knightmare types, with many proposals being made virtually overnight, up to and including a design based on the Bedivere with scaled down Excalibur sword. Through these myriad of proposals, Britannic would answer with a production type based on Knight of Three Gino Weinberg's Elyan. Dubbed the Preston, this unit was little different from its parents, though its overall design was simplified and capabilities scaled down somewhat for ease of production, typical of eighth generation Knightmares. Though somewhat more difficult to pilot as well as too specialized for general combat, the Preston would find a home with Britannian devicers who preferred speed and close combat most of all, making it effective in blitzkrieg operations.

Among the first devicers to gain the Preston is Captain Sir Leonhardt Steiner of the Ceridwren Knights, who would field his unit alongside Captain Dame Sokkia Sherpa's Exeter and Captain Sir Tink Lockhart's Kirkwall as the Ceridwren Knights' second-highest fighters, naturally under their leader Major Dame Oldrin Zevon and her Urien. Leonhardt would utilize his Preston through much of the Britannian advance through Far Eastern Eurasia (Siberia) toward the Urals...
